1. Exploring low carbon transportation pathways for India

DESCRIPTION           : 

This project focused on studying the interplay and interdependence of the EV and RE growth trajectories in India, and their impact on the reductions in carbon emissions of the transportation sector. This analysis is expected to lead to recommendations for ensuring the proper growth of both the EV and RE sectors in India.

2. Development of solar-powered decentralized fertilizer production-cum-irrigation units

DESCRIPTION           : The project aims at producing decentralized ammonia from the
                                          solar PV coupled electrolyzer route. Furthermore, the project
                                          would also focus on integrating the proposed solar fertilizer unit 
                                          with the conventional solar pumping mechanism. Overall, the
                                          project aims to examine the agronomic and technical
                                          considerations of this solar-powered decentralized fertilizer
                                          production-cum-irrigation units.

3. Sustainability assessment of gasification of forest residues

DESCRIPTION             :

The study aims to conduct gasification experiments in a downdraft
gasifier for the suggested himalayan feedstocks. Based on the
experimental results process models in ASPEN Plus® software
reflecting the mass and energy balance would be created. The
output from these process models would be used to conduct a
techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA)
focussing on the Indian context, for varying process parameters as
well as supply chain scenarios.

4. Development of energy-water-air nexus framework for wastewater treatment (NEWAIR)

DESCRIPTION           :

This is a collaborative project with Laboratoire Image Ville
Environnement, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique
(CNRS) and University of Strasbourg, France. This project aims to
evaluate the feasibility of net positive energy wastewater treatment
while providing reduced air pollutant emissions.

5. Developing a National Scheme for Grid-scale Energy Storage Technologies

START DATE             :  01 Sep 2022

Description                 : This project aimed at comprehensive techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment                                            (LCA) of different Grid scale storage options for India. The options considered included pumped                                            hydro, Li-ion battery, Vanadium Redox flow battery, compressed air and thermal energy storage.
